Urgent Eye Care When It Matters
Sudden changes in vision, eye pain, injuries, or other urgent concerns deserve prompt, professional attention. Our team provides priority evaluations to assess the issue quickly, guide the right next steps, and help protect your long-term eye health.
When further care is needed, we coordinate with trusted specialists to ensure you receive seamless support beyond our office.
Eye Emergencies We Treat
Sudden Vision Changes
Sudden blur, dark spots, or loss of vision should be evaluated right away.
Flashes & New Floaters
Can signal retinal issues that need urgent attention.
Eye Pain & Severe Irritation
Especially when pain is intense, persistent, or paired with light sensitivity.
Redness & Swelling After Injury
Trauma can cause internal damage even when the surface looks fine.
Foreign Body or Chemical Exposure
From debris in the eye to chemical splashes, fast evaluation helps prevent complications.
Infection Concerns
Sudden redness, discharge, swelling, or contact-lens related symptoms may require urgent treatment.
If a chemical such as battery acid, bleach, or lemon juice comes into contact with your eye, act immediately. Begin flushing the eye under cool running water right away, and continue irrigation for at least 15 minutes. After rinsing, seek emergency medical care as soon as possible, even if symptoms seem to improve.

Urgent eye care is not just about being seen quickly. It is about knowing what needs to happen next.
Many concerns can be evaluated and treated in our office. When a condition needs specialty care, we connect you with trusted referral partners and help make the process feel clear, not chaotic.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an appointment for urgent eye care?
Yes. Please call before coming in so we can understand what is happening and find the best way to help you. For urgent concerns, we do our best to make room as quickly as possible and guide you on the right next step.
Should I go to the emergency room instead?
Some symptoms need emergency care right away, especially severe trauma, chemical exposure, sudden vision loss, or symptoms that may be connected to a stroke or other medical emergency. If you think it may be an emergency, do not wait. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Which locations offer urgent eye care?
Urgent eye care is available at both our Herndon and Oakton locations. We regularly care for patients from Reston, Fairfax, Vienna, Tysons, Chantilly, and surrounding Northern Virginia communities.
Do you accept insurance for urgent eye care?
Yes. Urgent eye care visits are typically billed through medical insurance, not vision insurance. Our team can help review your expected benefits and copays before your visit whenever possible, so you have a clearer understanding of your coverage.
